Different Types of Bathroom Sinks

Some of the things that you will need to take into consideration about your bathroom are the size of your bathroom, how you want it decorated, and the amount you want to spend.  Some brands, for example Kohler sinks and accessories, have a good reputation for quality, however budget conscious shoppers can find sinks and things that are of just as good a quality with a lower price tag.

The options for sinks that you have when it comes to designing your bathroom include:

  1. Pedestal sinks
  2. Console sinks
  3. Vanity sinks
  4. Vessel sinks
  5. Console sinks

Vanity sinks are quite common, especially in master bathrooms. It is the type of sink that is built into the cabinet. The plumbing can be seen when you look underneath the cabinet. The hole that the sink bowl is to fit inside of is smaller than the rim of the sink so that the sink can be held up and rest on the counter top. The edges of the counter top are hidden by the rim of the sink.

Next is the pedestal sink which sits on a pedestal; it is the type of sink that is usually seen in half bathrooms where there is only a toilet, and sink; no shower or tub. Pedestal sinks are basically used in bathrooms where there is limited space. They are a nice addition to a bathroom.

Vessels sinks are another type of sink found in bathrooms. These sinks sit on top of a counter top with the bowl being exposed instead of being installed under the counter top. The basin’s shape and size can vary depending upon the interior designer’s preference. Vessels sinks come in a huge variety and are made out of different materials. Marble, stone, and glass are some of the most common materials that you will see in vessel sinks. You will often see vessel sinks in fancy restaurants because of how trendy they are. They definitely stand out from the other commonly used sink types.  They will definitely add a sophisticated look to any bathroom.

Lastly, a console sink is an option for your bathroom. It fits best in bathrooms that are smaller in size. Console sinks attach to the wall and the plumbing beneath them is visible. Generally there is no room for cabinet space underneath these sinks so it would be wise place small storage shelf in your bathroom; possibly one that can be hung on your wall to utilize that space for storage.

Redecorating a bathroom can be a time consuming and tedious process.  But once the work is done and done well, the benefits of a relaxing room where you can close the door and shut out the world is well worth the time and effort. Choose your appliances and accessories well and you will not regret it.
